I am running in the Shamrock Run this Saturday. I am nervous because I have “slacked off” a bit on my running routine this winter and (silly me) I thought the Shamrock Run would be closer to St. Patty’s Day, so I thought I had a good two weeks left to “train”.

So I’ve been running in the snow.

When you run in the snow, your brain flip-flops between thinking that you’re Rocky (WOW! Look at me! I’m a super-athlete! I even run in the snow!) and thinking that you’re a complete idiot (WOW! Look at that moron–running in the snow!).

This morning (after soaking my feet in two frigid puddles) I definitely had myself in the complete idiot category…until a lady passed me on a bicycle!

I had to believe I didn’t look as dumb as her (I sure hope not).
