Not your ordinary trip to the movies…

How is this for a cool thing to do on a Sunday afternoon? Do you remember how YUCKY Sunday was??? Yucky, yucky!

Well, Sheas has a Free Film Series once a month, and this past Sunday they showed The General, a silent black-and-white Buster Keaton film. It was preceded by a bunch of old Bugs Bunny cartoons, but the best part… a guy was on stage playing a Wurlitzer pipe organ along with the film–it was amazing!!! When the film began, the organ lowered down into the floor. I had never seen (or heard) anything like it, and the kids just loved it.

After the movie, you were free to go up front and ask the organ player questions. He said his next appearance will be on Good Friday at the Riviera Theatre (7 pm, I think). They will be showing King of Kings by Cecil B. Demille. He said the movie was definitely family-friendly. I can’t wait to go. When else do you have an opportunity to see something like that?  Hopefully some of you will join me there!
